THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS FOR ATTORNEYS WHO RECEIVE COURT
APPOINTMENTS IN ADULT CRIMINAL AND JUVENILE DELINQUENCY CASES:

Article 26.04(j) of the Code of Criminal Procedure requires all attorneys who accept
appointments in adult criminal and juvenile delinquency cases to submit an annual statement
that describes the percentage of their practice time that is dedicated to work on those appointed
cases. This statement is required to be submitted to each county in which the attorney
accepted an appointment in an adult criminal or juvenile delinquency case during a fiscal year
period that begins on October 1 and ends September 30. This statement is due no later than
October 15 immediately following the close of each fiscal year.

The Texas Indigent Defense Commission (TIDC) has opened their electronic attorney reporting
portal (https://tidc.tamu.edu/attorneyreporting/) for attorneys to report their FY23 figures. Be
sure to complete the Attorney Practice Time Report prior to the October 15th deadline
established by the legislature. I also ask that you please print a copy of your report upon
completion and submit to my office for our records. There is an optional Attorney Practice Time
Worksheet available to assist you in calculating these percentage figures. It provides a tool to
help you consider all of the types of cases you handle when calculating the percentage of time
spent on criminal and juvenile appointed work. Additional Information, including a 15 minute
training video, on the reporting requirements is also available on this site.
