Call to Order

On June 14, 2019, the Brazoria County Bar Association June Meeting was called to order.  The pledges to the United States and Texas flags were recited, and attorney Thomas C.  Locke led us in prayer.

New Bar Association Members

The Brazoria County Bar Association members present unanimously approved the membership applications of Jay Gibson, Kevin Murphy, Stephen Rogers, and Patricia Cantu.  Welcome to the Bar Association!

Board Election & Results

The 2019-2020 slate for Bar Officers and Directors were approved by unanimous vote of the members present.  The positions which were up for vote were: Shannon Brown for President-elect, Cody Vasut for Treasurer, Claudia Sullivan for secretary, and Judge Jerri Lee Mills, Travis Townsend, and Rachel Aguilar for Board Directors.

CLE Guest Speaker

The Brazoria County Bar Association, Inc. welcomed guest speaker, Trey Picard, as the CLE guest speaker.  Mr. Picard is an Assistant District Attorney at the Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office Appellate Division and has been with the office for approximately 14 years.

After some brief announcements from the Bar, including the official notice that the 2019-2020 Member Dues are due no later than June 30th

Mr. Picard spoke on Expunctions and Non-disclosures, as well as the changes made to these various topics by the 86th Regular Legislative Session of Texas.
