Update May 18, 2021–

We tentatively will resume in-person bar meetings in August, pending guidance or rules from: the CDC, State of Texas, County of Brazoria, Office of Court Administration, & Texas Courts.  We look forward to seeing you in person on August 13, 2021 at noon!

Update September 18, 2020–

We are tentatively hopeful to have a Bar Christmas Party this year.  We have changed the signup procedure slightly: We are accepting payment only in the form a check this year.  If we have to cancel the event due to COVID-19, we will return your check to you.  We are not accepting payments online at this time as we incur credit card transaction fees regardless of whether we have the event or it is cancelled.  This affords us the opportunity to potentially present this Christmas Party.

Based on recommendations from public health officials as well as local, state, and federal officials, we will update you if we will be able to have a Bar Meeting in October and/or November this year.  In these unique times, we will continue to provide notices and timely information about CLE opportunities–especially free ones.  We hope you and your loved ones are well.

Update June 13, 2020–

In line with recommendations from public health professionals as well as local, state, and federal officials, we want to do our part to keep our communities safe and healthy and as such, we are not able to have a June Bar Association meeting.

We will provide any updates via our website and through email.  Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Update May 5, 2020–

While we look forward to Law Day each year, your Bar Board believes it is necessary to postpone the in-person event this year to protect the health and safety of our members, speakers, volunteers, and other attendees as we continue to follow guidance and directives from public health officials pertaining to COVID-19. We hope to hold this event later in the year and provide scholarship awards at that time.

We will provide any updates via our website and through email.  Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

April Bar Events Cancelled

All of us at the Brazoria County Bar Association Board want you to know we are committed to standing by you as we adjust to conditions related to COVID-19.  In line with recommendations from public health professionals as well as local, state, and federal officials, we want to do our part to keep our communities safe and healthy.

Therefore, we have cancelled our April events:

  1. The April Bar Meeting has been cancelled.
  2. The April 23rd “Resetting the Family” CLE has also been cancelled.  We are submitting refunds for people who have already registered and paid.  Hopefully PayPal will be able to get you your refund in at most 2-3 business days on the form of payment you used.  If you paid by check, we will be issuing you a refund check.

We are attempting to reschedule the speakers for later in the year.

We made this cancellation decision for April events after careful consideration and out of an abundance of care for our members and the communities we call home.  Our focus has always been on serving our members and providing valuable resources and CLE.  We know that by taking these steps to protect our members, together we will emerge stronger than ever.

At this time, May events are still proceeding, but we will make a formal decision as April progresses, and base it off of recommendations from public health professionals as well as local, state, and federal officials.  We will provide notice of any change(s) by email and on our website.

As always, the Bar website is available 24/7 with important notices from Brazoria County courts and from us.  We are reachable by email at angelaw@brazoria-county.com or you may also call Angela at 979-864-1225.

Thank you for being a member and trusting us to provide services throughout the years.  We don’t take that responsibility lightly.  We urge you to take care of yourselves and your families.  You are a part of our Brazoria County Bar Association family.
